Greenroad Media offers high-traffic, high visibility sites along Interstate highways for the purpose of installing floral mosaic designs created using flowers, plants and other natural materials. Using “the Living Pixel System™”, a patent-pending technology, Greenroad Media works with sponsors to custom design, install and maintain this 2- and 3-dimensional floral mosaic art that reflects the corporate partners’ ecological message or brand. These unique eco-friendly landscaped displays offer recognition to a sponsor for improving the area and create a memorable landmark.
Greenroad Media’s products are the 2- & 3-D Floralscape™ plant and flower installations. The 3-D installations use plant material, mostly mosaic plants, to render a vegetal sculpture highlighted with color. The 2-D installations are created using our patent-pending Living Pixel System™ that transforms an image into a graphic that within each pixel represents a flower for ease of site replication. A typical installation of 30’ x 60’ can use up to 20,000 flowers.
After artwork is approved, the image must be transformed into a planting drawing to issue color purchase orders in the form of flowers and organic material. Greenroad Media has devised for each region a seasonal color palette used to translate each image into a planting.
The Living Pixel System™ is based on a modular grid of recycled plastic Eco-crates each containing floral pixels. The first step is to transplant each flower from the grower’s flat to Greenroad Media’s crate. When the crates are transplanted, they are transported to the site and are installed on a patented grid system.
As each flower represents a pixel in the Floralscape™ installation, this very special Living Pixel™ needs to be nurtured in order to show its full color come bloom maturity. We have parameters such as constant height, great care in terms of nourishment, and efficient and ecologically-responsible insect and fungi control that are central to quality. Installations are irrigated and fertilized in order to keep blooming optimal.
